This blog is a tribute to John Anthony Bellairs (January 17, 1938 – March 8, 1991), an American author best known for his Gothic young adult novels featuring pairings of bookish and eccentric old and young people with a love for history, mystery, cemeteries, ghosts, magic . . . and food—most notably The House with a Clock in its Walls.

IMPORTANT: If you are a kid, please don’t cook any of the recipes in this blog without a grown-up to help you. You could burn off your hands or face or even burn the house down. Then you’d have nowhere to cook.

Also if you are a kid: ignore the references to and encouragement of drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes. Both will kill you.

About the blogger….

Ursula Bielski is the author of a dozen books on ghosts, cemeteries and the supernatural, mostly about her home town of Chicago, Illinois. She operates the Chicago Hauntings Ghost Tours, reads ghost stories, fiddles with spirit communication devices, creeps around old cemeteries … and cooks. She probably burned most of the recipes on this blog, but that does not reflect on the recipes.
